Supporting AID's Eureka Program

Our latest project supports AID’s Eureka program, aimed at uplifting marginalized communities throughout India by focusing on education, health, and infrastructure development. Eureka addresses the root causes of poverty, working toward long-term improvements in rural areas to create self-sufficient communities.

As part of this, we are raising over $30K to fund Eureka Homes, which provides secure and stable housing for unsheltered families. Each 220 sq. ft. brick and cement home costs $3000 to build. Using musical talent to raise awareness, we are working to construct 10 homes, offering stability for these families over the next 45 years. Eureka Homes supports families affected by poverty and natural disasters, providing them with a safe place to live.

Through our efforts, we are committed to making a lasting difference by offering stability, security, and hope for a better future for these families.

It’s Going To Be OK
 Empowering Survivors, Shattering Chains

Our team felt a deep calling to take action against human trafficking after hearing the powerful stories of Tonya and the survivors she supports. Although this project was a bit outside our usual mission, there was no way we could turn our backs. We knew we had to raise awareness in our community and be part of the change, no matter how small.

At It’s Going To Be OK Inc., we are unwavering in our commitment to eradicating human trafficking and creating a just world where every woman, child, and vulnerable adult is not only safe but empowered, respected, and cherished. By uniting our collective strength, we believe we can dismantle the chains of exploitation and light the way to a more compassionate future.

Our efforts began with collecting supplies and speaking with survivors, determined to help turn victims into survivors and their scars into strength. To amplify our mission, we organized a musical fundraiser with a live band from our team, alongside talented student and parent dancers.

The event, held at the UTD event hall, grew into a full-fledged celebration with vendors, items for sale, and food, all aimed at raising awareness. But we didn’t stop there. We created artwork reflecting the impact of human trafficking and held two awareness walks. The first was a student-led walk featuring drawings and paintings, and the second was a parent walk in blue to symbolize the fight against trafficking.

Corps Shelter

Thane, Mumbai, India

The Corp Shelter in Thane, Mumbai, India, is one of our favorite long-term service projects. This girls' shelter, which we began working with during the COVID-19 lockdown, became a beacon of hope for the children there. With schools closed, we started weekly Zoom calls every Friday night, connecting with the girls and their siblings early Saturday morning in India.

Through these virtual sessions, we provided artistic enrichment, engaging the children in creative problem-solving, theatrical acting, story writing, art, and set design. We also introduced them to music, dance, yoga, English language lessons, quick math-solving, robotics, guitar lessons, and world knowledge. Additionally, we covered health, hygiene, and hosted motivational speakers to inspire the children to dream big and pursue careers or higher education.

This relationship has flourished over three years, fostering a beautiful cultural exchange through the celebration of festivals like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve. The Zoom calls became a platform for the girls to showcase their talents, a source of joy for the kids, some as young as three, who would eagerly wait for the sessions to start.

Career Training and College Education Initiative

As we continued working with the girls at the Corp Shelter, it became clear that many of them faced significant barriers to pursuing higher education or career training. Recognizing this need, we embarked on a major project to support more than 12 high school and college students, helping them achieve financial independence and secure a brighter future.

We connected the students with professionals in various career fields, providing mentorship and motivation to pursue their aspirations. This project also involved establishing connections with universities, guiding the girls to find educational paths that aligned with their skills and interests. The girls, in turn, pledged to support younger shelter residents in their future educational journeys.

Raising Funds and Awareness

To fund these efforts, we organized a musical show through Melodies 4 Minds, bringing together the talents of our team and neighboring school children. The event successfully raised enough funds to support the girls and their educational pursuits, with additional funds donated to "It’s a Sensory World" for school supplies.

This ongoing project continues to inspire and empower the children at the Corp Shelter, creating lasting impacts on their futures and the community.

It's A Sensory World

It's a Sensory World provides integrative and therapeutic education, recreation, and support for neurodiverse individuals and their families, aiming to help each child reach their full potential through sensory and motor development. Their mission aligns with creating a safe, inclusive, and growth-centered environment for children with developmental delays.

As part of our collaboration, Melodies 4 Minds participated in the Boo Bash, an annual sensory-friendly Halloween event. We raised funds for school supplies, built creative haunted houses with child-friendly themes, and involved students in music and art activities, bringing joy to the children at the school.

In middle school to a couple of years in  Highschool, we wanted to make a difference for children with special needs, which led us to collaborate with It’s a Sensory World. After spending time with the kids and learning about the school’s unique needs, we found ways to offer our support.

One of our key contributions was to the school’s annual Halloween Boo Bash, an event designed to create a fun, sensory-friendly environment for the children. For three consecutive years, we became an integral part of the Boo Bash, raising funds for school supplies and helping design and build creative haunted houses.

Our haunted house creations became a major highlight for the kids. We designed two themed sections: one was a fun Candy Land, and the other had a more traditional, fun-but-spooky Halloween theme. The house, a 24 by 12-foot structure, was carefully designed with PVC pipes and decorations that took the children's sensitivities into consideration. We also created a large puzzle pathway with haystacks, set up photo booths, and decorated classrooms. The event even included a live band performance, which became a big hit with the kids.

One year, we created a handmade rainforest-themed section to raise awareness about climate change and recycling. Another year, we showcased our team’s talents in music, singing, and dance to raise more funds for the school.

The joy and happiness on the children's faces were unforgettable. For us as a team, the fun lay not only in the event itself but in the planning, designing, and engineering of the haunted house. This project has given us memories we’ll cherish for life, and we're grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful cause.

UC Davis Mind Institute Project Overview:

During the COVID years, you worked with special needs families from the UC Davis Mind Institute and identified a need for blankets. In response, you organized sessions with Vibha youth volunteers, family, and friends to create blankets and masks.

Blankets Initiative:

Your team made 100 blankets and gathered an additional 150 blankets, specifically for special needs children.

Masks and Face Shields:

In addition to the blankets, your team produced masks and face shields for the special needs children and local hospitals. As the initiative grew, it expanded to support other hospitals in the Dallas area.

Christmas Event:

You organized a Christmas event to distribute the blankets to the children involved in the UC Davis Mind Institute project. A high school student from California participated by helping make blankets, create masks, and package each blanket for the children.

Project Impact:

This project not only addressed the immediate needs during the pandemic but also engaged youth volunteers and expanded into a larger effort within Vibha, helping hospitals and children beyond the original scope. It brought joy and comfort to the children while fostering a sense of community and creativity during the lockdown.

COVID-19 Relief: North Texas Food Bank Project

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we witnessed heartbreaking news reports of families facing severe food shortages, with long lines of vehicles at the North Texas Food Bank. In response, we took action by organizing a fundraising campaign to support those in need. Through our collective efforts, we raised enough funds to provide over 13,000 meals to families struggling with food insecurity, making a meaningful impact during a critical time.

Hurricane Harvey Relief: Support for Displaced Pets and Humanitarian Aid

When Hurricane Harvey hit Houston, the devastation was overwhelming. As elementary and middle schoolers, we felt compelled to help in any way we could. Witnessing the disaster unfold, we decided to focus on supporting the pets displaced by the hurricane, who were in dire need of care, food, and shelter.

For several weekends, we stood in front of local pet stores, raising funds and collecting supplies for the Houston shelters. Through our creative fundraising efforts—using our musical talents, dressing up in costumes, and engaging with customers using posters and entertainment—we managed to raise over four truckloads of supplies and more than $2,000 in donations.

A couple of our team members also extended their efforts by raising funds for food supplies, essentials like clothing and appliances, and financial support for an elementary school in Houston that was destroyed by the storm.

In addition to fundraising, we spent several days organizing and packing supplies at collection centers, ensuring they reached the affected pets. One of our team members even traveled to Houston to personally deliver the supplies and help clean homes impacted by the storm. On a heartwarming note, one of our families adopted a dog during the process.
